Parent and Teachers Work in Partnership to Advocate for Our Children
In our PTA, Parents and Teachers volunteer their time and work together in various capacities to help our children. Below is a summary of the volunteer opportunities within the Palmer PTA. The good new is that most of the positions are filled, but you will see positions where leadership help is needed. OFFICERS
Co-Presidents: These positions share the overall responsibility of running the Palmer PTA.
Co-Presidents: Ashley Shults and Julia Gardiner
Secretary: Responsible for recording the minutes at the PTA meetings and distributing the same for review.
Heather Davis
Treasurer: Responsible for all the financials and budget information of the PTA.
Alicia Francis
Vice President of Program Coordination: Responsible for coordinating any incoming guest speakers for school assemblies. Also, works closely with the Palmer Elementary secretary and submit application for BOCES credits.
Meghan Chaloux
Vice President of Fund Raising: Responsible for setting fundraising goals and organizing and implementing fundraising activities at the school
Danica Kaltaler
Vice President of Communications: Responsible for relaying all PTA communications via Parent Square, Facebook and PTBoard.
Lauren Kwaczala
COMMITTEE CHAIRS
Teacher Appreciation: Responsible for coordinating activities associated with teacher appreciation.
Chair: Kristie Ciancaglini & Lindsey Duke
Book Fair: Responsible for coordinating a Fall and Spring book fair event that lasts 4 days during school hours and 1 family night per event. Coordinates distribution of scholastic books for kindergarten orientation and screening.
Co-Chairs: Jen Kirkegaard & Alicia Francis
Box Tops for Education / Tools for School: Responsible for advertising, coordinating, collecting box tops with room parent volunteers. Also responsible for preparing labels for mailing twice a year.

Enrichment Day: Set up programs and volunteers for annual enrichment days. This day is an opportunity for students to learn more about skills and hobbies they could pursue to enrich their lives; sports, painting, dance, and cake decorating are some examples.

Earth Day: Coordinate a school wide event to help clean up Palmer and add some new plants to the grounds.
Chair: Teachers at Palmer
Fundraising: Plan and promote event, distribute packets and explanation letters to be sent home with students, and coordinate pick up of merchandise and money collection.
Fun Run Co-Chairs: Danica Kaltaler
Penguin Palooza: Responsible for coordinating the annual spring event by booking vendors, setting up activities for families, advertising, and organizing volunteers.
Chair: Palmer PTA Executive Board
Membership: Responsible for collecting and paying membership dues for the PTA.
Chair: Meghan Addario & Alicia Francis
Pick a Reading Partner (PARP): Responsible for planning the annual program for encouraging parents to read daily to / with their children. Activities may include: opening kick-off, weekly time sheets, incentives, visit by an author, book exchange, daily sustained silent reading, and a closing event.

Spirit Wear: Responsible for working with vendor, and distributing clothing to student community.

Square1Art: Responsible for working with the school to do a school-wide art project with the kids, collect the artwork & submit to Square1Art. When it is delivered, help distribute to those that ordered.
Chair: Heather Sherman
Yearbook: Responsible for working with a committee to take pictures at school events and collect pictures through the school year to submit to the yearbook publication company at year end.
